Silver at the Friendship Tournament: the SPbGUVM team performed at Africa Day.

On May 23th, Moroccan students of the preparatory course and first year of the Veterinary Medicine faculty of the SPbSUVM took part in a Friendship Tournament dedicated to the Africa Day.

The event was held with the support of the St. Petersburg Committee for External Relations. The matches took place at the historic Petrovsky Stadium. Sixteen teams competed in the tournament: Morocco, Algeria, Angola, Ghana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Mali, Namibia, Nigeria, the Republic of the Congo, Togo, Tunisia, Ethiopia, and a youth team of the St. Petersburg Government. The competitions brought together representatives of different cultures and peoples, becoming a true symbol of international cooperation and mutual understanding.
The path to the final proved to be challenging. Our team members repeatedly sustained injuries on the field; however, despite pain and fatigue, they continued to fight for every ball. Their perseverance and team spirit allowed them to overcome all obstacles, bypass 14 opponents, and advance to the decisive match of the tournament.
In the end, the SPbSUVM team earned an honorable second place. Special recognition was awarded to player Wahbi Otman, whom the organizers presented with the Best Player of the Tournament award — a high assessment of his skill and dedication.
Such events provide students with a unique opportunity to unlock their potential not only in studies but also in sports, make new acquaintances, find loyal friends, and keep warm memories of the years spent in Russia for a lifetime.
